How well is my data encrypted?

HN's encryption is 32-bit to the 16th power.

What security measures prevent one customer from accessing another customer's data when HN stores multiple customers' data within the same system?

Users only have access to the data they are authorised to view, and this permission is solely granted by the data owner. Additionally, the HN system employs chaos theory to make your stored data assets even less accessible to potential attackers.

What other security measures are part of the HN system?

We are confident in asserting that we have the most secure system on the planet. Unless you leave a sticky note with your password on your computer or give your user ID and password to someone else, no one will ever be able to access your data.

What is the procedure in the event of a data breach?

HN eliminates the risk of data breaches. However, if someone uses your user ID and password to access your database, you can take the database offline by deactivating it.

We recommend changing your password if you suspect someone has access to your account. We also advise never sharing your login credentials with anyone.

You can use our standard adaptors for Oracle, MS SQL, and SAP free of charge. The first time upload of your complete database is also free. After the first upload, you will start to pay for storage by GB.

Where is my data stored?

By default, your data is stored globally on our distributed ledger system. Alternatively, you can opt to restrict storage to specific countries or exclude storage from certain countries.

How can I prevent myself from accidental data deletion?

We retain deleted data in a "sleep" mode for 48 hours, during which it can be restored. After 48 hours, the data will be permanently deleted.

Will I lose my data if a storage provider's hardware gets damaged?

No. If a provider's hardware is damaged or loses internet connectivity, your data will be replicated to another provider within five seconds. Additionally, the system automatically synchronises all your data across the hardware of five separate providers.

What makes HN storage unique?

Please visit HN's homepage for a detailed explanation of our unique approach to data storage. In short: HN's storage is based on distributed ledger technology, includes free, integrated, high-level encryption, ensures quick and straightforward implementation, and requires less development expertise than other storage solutions.

How do I set up port forwarding?

Each router has a different method for setting up port forwarding rules, so you must configure this yourself, possibly with the help of your router’s supplier.

What is a ledger?

A ledger refers to a record-keeping system that maintains a chronological record of all data changes made to a specific database. It can be thought of as a log of all transactions that have occurred within the system, used to track the history of data changes over time. Additionally, a ledger is a database or record-keeping system used to monitor financial transactions. It provides a chronological list of all transactions within a set period, showing the amounts and the parties involved. We use a maximum of 1,2 TB of disk space per ledger. Therefore, we recommend an SSD of at least 2 TB per ledger.

What is a node?

Nodes are computers or devices connected to a network that participate in checking and processing transactions, and are responsible for storing and managing data. Nodes are commonly used in distributed systems, where data is stored across multiple devices to enhance performance, redundancy, and fault tolerance. Each node in the system may store a part of the data, and several nodes can collaborate to provide a unified view of the data to the application or user. Starting at 64 GB of memory, you can choose to use your computer as a node in the HN network, in addition to functioning as a ledger. It is also possible to connect your computer solely as a node to the HN network. You will be presented with this option during the software installation if you have at least 64 GB of internal memory.

What is the core idea of ledgers and nodes?

In the context of the Hyperion Node, a ledger and a node are key concepts. The Hyperion Node is a distributed database that uses a ledger-based approach to record and store data changes. Each node within the network acts as a storage point, responsible for holding and managing a segment of the data. By using a distributed ledger approach, the Hyperion Node guarantees that data is stored securely and that modifications to the data can be monitored and audited over time.

Why can't I select a node to activate alongside a ledger during installation?

The option to let your computer act as a node in the HN network, alongside a ledger, is only available if your computer has at least 64GB of internal memory.

Can I also connect my computer to the HN network as a ledger if I have less than 1,2 TB of free disk space?

Yes, during installation, you can specify how much disk space HN can use, up to a maximum of 1.2 TB. If you provide less disk space, your revenue will decrease accordingly.

Can I also join the HN network if my computer runs an operating system other than Windows?

At present, we only support Windows. Linux will be introduced soon. This minimises errors, reduces fraud, and boosts efficiency, saving time and costs

Is a licence required to connect my computer to the HN network?

No, you can add two (2) computers (as ledger and/or nodes) to the HN network for free. If you wish to add more computers to the HN network, you can purchase additional annual licences via the HN application.

The fees for being a DSP and/or using the storage are different in my country from those mentioned on the website. Why is this?

HN adjusts prices for DSP based on fees for storage and bandwidth, which are set according to country rules and regulations, as some countries have very protective laws for international business, and our services are based on these laws. HN also adjusts prices based on costs of electricity, internet, availability, and risk.

The system indicates my DSP is blocked based on IP; what can I do?

Most probably, you are running on a VPN connection, which is not allowed on HN. All VPN services are permanently blocked; to gain access, remove the VPN and you will most likely be able to access. Another reason could be that you are using a reserved IP range without a valid location identifier. Switch to an ISP range, and access should work (check your registration on www.whatismyipaddress.com, for example).
